Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish the preconditions for the implementation of a change, such as a ‘step change’ or a change resulting from a problem-solving exercise, such as a kaizen blitz. This unit applies to a desired change that has already been identified.The unit applies to subsections of an organisation, such as a team, area or department, or a small or medium sized enterprise (SME). This unit may also be applied in service organisations applying competitive systems and practices principles.This unit applies to team leaders or managers with influence, authority and responsibility over change processes. No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Define the change
  • Determine the purpose of the change
  • Identify key change project personnel
  • Record the current state that the change is addressing
  • Develop a consensus view of the intended future state, including indicators of a successful change
  • Develop an agreed statement of the solution
  • Identify the health, safety and environment (HSE) impacts of the change
  • Determine the scope of the change project, including the impact of the solution on any codes of practice, standards, contracts and commercial or industrial agreements
  • Obtain sign-off from key change project personnel

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
